New Years Eve Party 2009

After a lot of planning and hard work the hall looked amazing dressed in tartan with swathes of voile across the ceiling this years theme being Scottish Hogmanay. All was set and ready for the fun to start.

A glass of whiskey each by kind donation of a large bottle that he had won was provided by Simon Moy.Thanks Simon that warmed everyone up on a cold night and got the mood of the evening going.
Dave Jake was an excellent entertainer as usual and this year  in one of his skits he was joined by little Sam Mills as together in kilts they were McTavish Flatley. Dave's stomach was an amazing sight to behold. Sam played an excellent part the whole thing was a WOW.
There was a huge treat in store for everyone part way through the evening as a Scottish piper arrived and gave a splendid rendition. Melanie Mills (social secretary) had arranged this and kept the secret,
Many agreed that this year was the best so far. The food, the drink, the company and the entertainment were all ace and plans are already in the pipeline for next years theme.

As well as making a profit ourselves £360 was raised for the air ambulance with the raffle making £80 and the auction of a very generous gift given by a committee member and her husband making £280.
We had a lot of help from committee members and villagers too for which we are very grateful especially the next day when everyone is a little jaded and has to go and face the cleaning up but the troops ralied and it was soon done. Thanks to all concerned.
