St Georges Day 2010

st george daySt George's Day Friday 23rd April 7.30pm

An evening of fun in the village hall was enjoyed by many villagers with Dave Jake leading the entertainment by singing songs like The White Cliffs of Dover and many other old English favourites to sing along to.
The children were entertained by taking part in a Slay the Dragon competition and a table of St. George and the Dragon pictures to colour in.
There was English Ale,Wine, and Cider etc. at the bar and roast beef in onion gravy in Yorkshire puddings followed by apple pie or fruit crumble and custard for refreshments. A trivia quiz kept everyone alert over the whole evening. All in all it was a great patriotic evening also enjoyed by the Welsh and Scottish among us.
St Georges Day GalleryWell done to Alan & Kay Mayes who had the best British Brains and won a bottle of red wine as 1st prize in the quiz. Darran & Ronnie came a very close second!
Pierce and Hannah slayed the dragon and won prizes for getting closest to the mark, much fun was had by all in this newly adapted version of our take on pin the tail on the donkey! Well done Margaret the dragon was the star of the show!.
The village sing off was adjudged a draw although I have to say that there were some less than tuneful noises from the Cock Lane/Orton Lane lot and special mentions to Billy & Isis who were in fine vice after practising at choir the night before!
Every one joined in even Hugh (we will have to do a St Andrew's day! next year) and it was lovely to see some new neighbours on their first night out with us.
